About the Role
This role is for our client in the GIS sector, requiring a Support Specialist to assist the GIS Coordination Program Manager in implementing Geographic Information Coordinating Council (GICC) initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the GIS Coordination Program Manager to plan, develop, and evaluate Council policies, strategies, and initiatives. The role involves administrative support for 6 subcommittees and technical support for working groups, with a focus on written communication, data research, and online content creation using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the GIS Coordination Program Manager in implementing GICC initiatives, including administrative support for 6 subcommittees and technical support for working groups.
- Work closely with the GIS Coordination Program Manager to plan, develop, and evaluate Council policies, strategies, and initiatives.
- Provide technical support for working groups, including research, data analysis, and online content creation using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online tools.
- Compile data from multiple sources, automate data edits using scripting or automation tools, and quality check data for publication.
- Communicate with working group members to document application or website needs, research solutions to implementation, and report options to the working group.
- Develop and maintain GIS data in the Esri ArcGIS suite of products.
- Produce static GIS maps for effective communication and data visualization.
- Apply geospatial workflows and solutions, data management, and analysis to support GIS initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience using Esri's ArcGIS Desktop suite of applications, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong understanding of how to edit and maintain GIS data in the Esri ArcGIS suite of products.
- Expertise in data visualization and cartography to help explain patterns and issues.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and experience in applying geospatial workflows and solutions, data management, and analysis.
- Exposure to and experience with ArcGIS Online tools, including Experience Builder, StoryMaps, Survey123, and other applications.

Work Schedule & Duration
- This is a remote position with occasional on-site work required (one day per week, Tuesdays).
- The contract length is from 07/20/26 to 11/03/26.
