About the Role
This role is for our client in the technology sector. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to support application development and data integration. The Database Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing core database environments, ensuring maximum uptime and peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, provision, and manage hardware and software configurations (Azure Cloud services and Windows Servers).
- Ensure compliance with data governance and State data privacy regulations and manage user permissions.
- Design, implement, and monitor automated database jobs, maintenance tasks, and ETL workflows.
- Write and maintain robust scripts (SSIS, PowerShell, etc.) to automate routine DBA tasks, deployments, backups, and health checks.
- Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize queries, and manage indexing strategies.
- Maintain and test robust disaster recovery (DR) strategies, and failover testing.
- Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical systems as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support application development and data integration.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in managing enterprise systems (e.g., MS SQL Server, Windows Server, and Azure Cloud environment).
- Advanced knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell and SSIS for automation.
- Solid understanding of storage systems, network architecture, and cloud infrastructure (i.e. Azure).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills under pressure for critical production incidents.
