About the Role
This role is for our client in the transportation sector. The selected candidate will work as a contractual Adabas / Natural software developer for a long-term assignment. The position involves analysis, design, implementation, and support of existing Motor Vehicle mainframe applications. The work can be done onsite or remotely, connecting to a workstation located in the Dover DelDOT Administration building. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, be creative and self-motivated with excellent communication and end-user skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Write code, revise and adapt existing code, troubleshoot and resolve defects.
- Maintain and support applications to keep them performing in accordance with technical and functional specifications.
- Perform system tests and debug programs according to results of system test and user acceptance test.
- Assess ideas and suggestions for system upgrades or improvements, evaluate and recommend development tools and software upgrades/enhancements.
- Provide effective on-site support as needed.
- Participate in product design reviews to verify that design meets quality standards and functional/technical requirements.
- Document all work for future reference, including end-user documentation and manuals as well as status updates to management and users.
- Prepare technical documentation and have good oral and written communication skills.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficient in NATURAL Software Development.
- ADABAS database development experience.
- TSO, JCL, FTP, and Cobol skills.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) proficiency.
- SQL Server database experience desired.
